I'm calling the cops
I am already backing up everything on my dad's laptop with Retrospect(Maxtor) but he also wants me to delete everything on his laptop afterwards. Any safe way to do this? Cause his whole business is on this thing. Also, the reason he is doing this is because he is bringing it in to get the screen fixed which for some reason has a greyish(like 25% opacity) 2 inch wide line going about right down the middle. Is there a way to fix this WOTHOUT having to bring it in?

Thanks,
G5Unit

Yeh but I don't have access to them right now.
One extreme, but often easy thing you could do is remove the hard drive entirely. Many PC laptops have obvious drive bays. We do this regularly at work when we send a laptop in for repair.
