Backing Up Final Cut Studio

I work for a university and we just recieved a new imac 20" with the final cut studio acedmeic version. Since the computer and discs will be in the hands of students who work for us, I wanted to back up the discs instead of giving out the originals. However, when I went in to copy the DVD install discs it said that many were over 4.7 Gb and would not fit on a single DVD. How should I back up all six of these discs. I know during the original install it would promt you to put in the next install disc and I want to be able to recreate that process. Any thoughts.

I don't know how to recreate the one after the other install process (there is a way), but try DL DVDs.

I have a disc image of each stored on my hard drive so when I need to reinstall my Mac stuff, I just plug in the hard drive, open all the images and run the install program, I don't even need the discs anymore, come to think of it. Thought, burning those disc images onto DL diss (the ones that are over 4.7 GB) works fine.

The students who work for us have their own "office", which is basicaly where we store the old tapes and media from previous years are stored along with a powerbook, imac, and emac. And within this office is the software binder where we keep all of the programs we have licened to use. Such as X many copies of office and X many copies of toast, but we use copies of the disc so students don't scratch the disc or misplace them. It is more of a precautionary thing that necessity. The actuall box with documentation and original disc we keep locked up. That is why i was tryingt o copy the DVDs so the originals would not get messed up. What I think I will do not is just put all of the disc images in a folder on one of the external hard drives in the office so there is no need for the disc. Sounds like the best solution.

So long as you keep track of the number of machines the 'disks' are installed on, I'm sure this'll be acceptable to both your needs and the copyright bods.
