I backup to both.
iCloud backup only occurs when the phone is plugged into a power source and locked (idle). My iCloud backup appears to be saving but does not show date or time says Unknown. I don't understand why.

I still don't get the difference between wifi sync and iCloud backup.
I'm backing up to my computer. iCloud is too foreign right now for me to rely on it.
You can do both.
Why would one want to back up to iCloud anyway?
OK, let me put it another way: if one has a computer, and if one recharges one's phone every night by plugging it into said computer, why would one want to back up to iCloud? I can understand that iCloud is designed primarily for iPad or iPhone users who do not have a computer, but if one has a computer, why back up to iCloud at all?My families iphones would never have been synced to a computer or updated if it wasn't for me. Now that I set up icloud backup for them, neither of us have to worry about it. Plus when they get new phones & turn them on you can restore from the backup in icloud without the need for a computer.
