Okay I read a lot of posts on this forums, did some searching, most say to do the unlocking myself, why pay someone to do it, which is true. Right now I have a 2nd gen iPhone, unlocked with 2.1, i want 2.2.1 and plan on doing it myself. One thing I couldnt find is the proper way to back up all my contacts, apps, pictures, basically everything important before upgrading?

Thanks!

You should just be able to sync it with Itunes. They'll copy everything to the computer. When you upgrade the firmware and then unlock it, it'll ask you if you want to restore your phone from what you had synced before.

Sweet i'll give it a shot, see my current iPhone is kinda messed up, a certain part of the screen does not work. Like I cant send text messages anymore because the part where the send button is at, is dead. Also when i make a phone call, 9 does not work. I plan on getting a 3G very soon, used of course. But since this phone is messed up already, i want to try it the first time by myself.

The 3G can now be unlocked the proper way right, you dont need that stupid sim adapter that doesnt work 100%?
