Jenks, OK
I'm sure this has been covered before, but in a quick search I didn't come up with much.

I have a jailbroken 3G running 2.2.1. I have a few jailbroken apps, and have done some cosmetic customizations to a couple of themes in Winterboard as well as replacing some of the stock sounds with my own.

What I'm wondering is, is there a way to backup the phone with all the programs and settings like I have it? For instance I may have a need to have the phone looked at for service, and I obviously don't want to take it into the Apple store jailbroken. I would do a restore. But is there a quick way to do a direct restore to the jailbreak with my settings when I get back home? Or do I have to rebuild it again? (I hope I'm phrasing this right...)

Its a sticky bro, but i had the same question, just a little more complex.

Thanks.

I'm having some battery issues that have just started in the last day or two. Dramatic loss in battery capacity. It runs down with just light normal usage in a couple hours when I'd easily get a full day before. So that's why I am wanting to take it to the store.

So when I get back home (either with another phone or the same one) I can do another restore, but restore from backup and I will be jailbroken again with all my programs and settings?

You can backup your jailbroken things with aptbackup. But you will have to rejailbreak regardless.

That's close to what I want. But it doesn't look like it will save the modified .caf files I changed. Also, do you know if it will also backup the themes from Winterboard?

OK, but redownloading would be different than backing up. I have a couple of themes that I've applied in winterboard, but I've changed parts of the themes. So if I understand this right, I would still have to ssh back in and redo those changes.

I guess I'll have the same problem when the jailbreak for 3.0 comes out, too.

It's not the biggest deal in the world, cause the changes I've made aren't very complicated and can be redone in an hour or so probably.
