Hi all,

I've got an iPhone 4S running iOS 7.1.2, and I want to bring over my photos, app data, and such to my new iPhone 6S.

Should I create a backup of the 4S as is and restore that to the 6S when I get it, or should I upgrade the 4S to iOS 9 first and then create the backup, or doesn't it matter?

Thanks.

Unless your 4S is having issues I would leave it as is, backup, and use that backup for a restore on your new device.

It turns out it didn't matter. The restore worked just fine with the backup made with 7.1.2, and afterwards I upgraded the 4s to iOS 9 anyway. That also went smoothly and the phone seemed to perform well.
