I'm using iPad as a desktop replacement. What that means is I actually no longer have a desktop. For most files, backing up is pretty straigthforward. However, for photos, where I'm using "optimized" storage, I'm not sure how to back those up since the originals are actually not on my iPad at all. I paid for 2TB of icloud photos and I know the originals are stored there but I would feel better if I had a local copy of my photos as a snapshot in time.

Any ideas?

I don't know how to export the original without a laptop tbh
Through the share sheet.

I suppose you could either:

1. Have a shared folder, so export from Photos to that shared folder and then move the files to respective albums from the server

2. Use an app like Jump desktop to control the server from the iPad. That would allow you to move files into whatever folders you want them, from the iPad.
