Not sure this is the best place to ask this but as it's iOS related I thought I'd try.

What is the best way to back up Live Photos from an iPhone. Here are the caveats:

I want to be able to back them up on my NAS (which is then synced to offsite backup) but when I use image capture to get the files, I get the image, the video file for Live Photos, and the AAE feel if I've made any edits. Is there a way to back these up as a single file?

I currently have a NAS share that I can use to view my photos on my TV through Plex or something like that, but until now those shared folders have all the three files for each image in there. It's getting a bit cumbersome. Therefore I'm considering doing a second transfer using something like google photos which support Live Photos.

Is there a better way to do this?

They're not single files, you mentioned the issue in your post. :)

I have two approaches:

1 - Backup to my MBPro via iTunes (which then in turn backs up to my NAS).
2 - I also directly copy them to my NAS as individual files on a semi-regular basis.

To make them a single file you could copy them to your MBPro using Image Capture and then create an archive file, and dump the images into the archive file. But that's a bit cumbersome I would think, and certainly doesn't address your TV issue.

how do you backup the photos alone via iTunes? If I can extract the photos like that it might be a good start?
