Backing up photos?

I am trying to backup mu Photos photos to an external HD but always end up with just thumbnails on the disc.

I "Select All" in Photos then the only option I can get is to right click on the selection and "copy" and then "Paste" to the disc, I cannot find a "backup" function.

Any help would br appreciated.

CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.
Both are FREE to download and try for 30 days.

Use either of these, and your ENTIRE DRIVE will be backed up.
And... you can BOOT FROM the backup if needed, and it will run and look just like the internal drive...

I just zip up ~/Pictures/Photos Library.photoslibrary, since everything is in there.
