Okay, I tried doing a search, but it didn't come up with a how-to..

So how does one back up system and application preferences? I can think of a not-so-easy way, taking a screen capture of each diaglogue box, but I'm sure there are files somewhere you can save onto a CD as back-up, correct? So where might these files be located/how can I make copies of them?

Yey! Thanks very much for that. Is there a usual directory/file name that preferences are saved under for general apps? I'll be buying Photoshop (again) eventually (the woes of switching) and I know what a piss-off it is to have the prefs in that reset..

if you follow that link, it shows the directories it backups for the prefs which would be the general directories for apps.
