I have iPad Pro 11" 2018, USB-C hub with card reader+USB ports

Have my SD card inserted from my Canon 5D along with a SSD plugged into USB port on hub.

I see the SD card and external drive in the Files app.

What's the best way to back up my photos to the drive?

- It seems if I select files and use "Move", the "copy" item in the popup does copy them across but how do I know progress? Could be moving many gigabytes of files
- Any way to move+verify the copy? I just tried copying 2 CR2 files and they show up in the external drive now, but one of the preview thumbnails is now messed up. Don't know if data corrupted, drive issue, or Files app issue.
- Is there a better/easier workflow?

Edit:

Because of the issues discussed in the thread I linked to, I will not use Files to back up my images (all RAW) from my Canon’s SD card to my Samsung T5 SSD. Two different methods work that I trust (2018 12.9 iPad Pro) –
  1. Using a USB-C card reader, I first copy the images to my iPad using FileBrowser for Business. I then copy from the iPad to the T5, again using FileBrowser for Business). I check that the transfer was good and then delete from the iPad. I have talked with the FileBrowser developers and support for simultaneous connections to multiple storage devices in a hub is in work; currently, they support just one, hence the copy to the iPad.
  2. Use my wireless RAVPower FileHub with the SD card and T5 both plugged into it. Use the device’s iPad app to do the copy direct from the card to the T5. The FileHub is what I used prior to iOS support for attached storage.

Seems like a pain but I know these work and I don’t want to endanger my images. Right now, I do not trust Files with exFAT storage.

Wow that was a very unexpected read... so that is just beyond sucky.

So right now my only backup option is to pay $20 for filebrowser for business option AND to do the backup over 2 stages (to ipad to external drive)? I actually used to have an older FileHub but sold it...

Is this iPad only or Mac affected too by exfat? My upcoming trip my friend will at least have mac laptop...

I can't speak to the Mac - I use Windows. Those are the options for me as I own the app and the FileHub. I do know that I will not trust Files as an image backup app to exFAT storage. I have ceased using it for anything at this point.
