iPhone Backing up Whatsapp

After 5 years (i think) with my faithful iPhone 6S i decided to make the jump to the iPhone 12 (loving it).

I'm trying to move my whatsapp archive (12.6gb) from one phone to the other. And the only option seems to be only via icloud.

And its proving to be really painful.

What alternatives do i have?

I think there’s no alternativ, the only way is via iCloud. Why is it painful?

in 12 hours, only 4gb backed up. At one point i reach 4.56 gb. then I look again, and it goes back to 4.01gb

Is it worth using the new space saver feature in Whatsapp to try and trim the amount of data you need to transfer? I had a look at it the other day and shrank my whatsapp data size quite a lot by removing pictures etc that i didnt need.

I did that, but i cannot trim a lot. The only options are to pay 30$ for software i will only use once.
