I have a 80 gb Powerbook, with about 30 gb of info I should have a back-up copy of... What do you recommend I do to do this... I am trying to save $$ What is the best bang for my buck?

You could get a small external HD from eBay for peanuts.

As for software, I use iBackup which is free.

hmmm prob copy it to about 7 or 8 dvds? that is only about 8 bucks or so
I dunno where you get your DVDs, but my 16x verbatim dvdrs were <25 cents. the DL dvdrs go for about $1-2 each.
a hard drive (External) is the way to go, and small ones are pretty cheap. You could build your own 80gb external for maybe $70-90 ($40 for hard drive, $30 for enclosure) if you wanted to.

Do most hard drives work with mac?
its the filesystem that matters slightly more than hardware compatibility (as, provided you have whatever you need (usb, firewire, SATA, etc.), odds are it will work).

try deja vu. Cheap and dirty. does the trick nicely. Recommended to a friend in a similar situation and he really liked it.
