somewhere
ok so i finally got around to installing win 7 on my 2 day imac
I never noticed any backlight bleeding .. but when it got to the windows loading screen .. u know where it says windows and the 3-4 different colors form ..
well on the bottom and on the right side there is definitely some bleeding ..
only noticeable during that screen ..

im currently installing win 7 on our other i5 27 imac and during that screen its all black no bleed

should i bring it back for a replacement ?? i have a feeling when a genius sees it they will be like they cant see it or its normal

I think I could live with a little back bleed. I do not my 52" TV. If you have no yellow tint issues, or gray bars I would keep it unless the back bleed really bothers you. If you return / exchange it you might get one that is worse.

yep.. I had the exact problem you are seeing. And returned it- getting my replacement next week. Bad feeling it is going to be no different tho.

There is thread on this here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/984100/

Some ppl are saying its normal IPS glow and that all 27" imacs have this 'feature'.. But i have a hard time beleiveing this as the ones in the apple store look perfect in comparison, none of this bleed/glow business at all!

Mine had minimal glow, but yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen and a gray bar / streak along the bottom as well.

hey jetjaguar... could you do us a huge favor and take some comparison pictures??

similar to ones i took of mine on this page
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/984100/

bleed 27" VS. no bleed i5 27"

Set the background to 100% black or use blackle.com at full screen. thanks!

sure i can do it tomorrow for you .. my bleed is nothing like that ..
ill take pics of both computers .. maybe im just nitpicking and its all in my head lol

My replacement comes in tomorrow. You won't notice the bleed with any default OSX background. Go ahead and watch any fullscreen movie trailer apple like Tron at 1080p HD, or go to www.blackle.com.

I noticed when I first watched the Tron trailer, but then when I booted into Windows 7 and ran L4D2 for the first time I really noticed it on the dark menu the game had. Anything black really bleeds light at the bottom left and bottom right. Apple says this is not Normal. Contact Applecare right away. I will post my findings tomorrow when FedEx comes.

jetjaguar, great. look forward to the comparison pics. Hopefully prove that some of us are not going totally crazy!

Well I got my replacement 27inch iMac.

Same bleed in bottom right corner, but the bottom left is no where as bad.. It's still bad though..
