Do you guys think that using a system like the Tom Bihn vertical brain in just a regular backpack will provide adequate protection for my MBP. I ride a bike to school and so using a messenger bag makes things a little more dangerous and I don't like having the laptop right on my back while I ride, feels like laptops will flex there, and its a very annoying feeling. I don't know if the conventional laptop backpacks really do enough to protect against the whole flexing issue.

BTW I am an engineering student, so my backpack with my current dell 5150 in it probably weighs in at 30-40lbs

Thanks in advace

Hey, i dont know if this will help, but i should speak up anyway...

I am also an engineering student, for my macbook, i rock an anti-shock sleeve, inside a padded laptop backpack (its a Dakine bag - http://www.amazon.com/Dakine-Duel-P.../103-2568062-3127045?ie=UTF8&s=sporting-goods )
I think my macbook would be safer against my bag rather then bouncing against my legs or hip.. I tried using a messenger bag, i do sometimes, but mostly it seems that it bounces and it scares me haha..

I would think that the vertical brain would be okay as long as you dont fall, but not much will save you there..

The only thing is with a messenger bag your book bounce right into the MBP, i found...

But i think you would be okay ..
