it's like when 2.0 was first released - taking 30+ minutes to backup...anyone else noticing this??

Backup after 3.1 update + iTunes 9 extremely slow

I am getting that similar thing
Now I am seeing the itunes taking forever to transfer anything to the computer or to or from iphone, I am not going to update to 3.1 becuase I never upgrade as a first, until others have tried it.
Running Leopard, because snow leopard has way to many bugs.

*I am also experiencing the backup slowdown.
After about 40 minutes I needed to use the phone, I clicked the "x" and it continued the sync process, but I feel much safer with it backed up so I restarted the process. Been over 10 minutes already and it is a bit over halfway done. It is definitely backing up faster for round 2.

Someone suggested just canceling the backup, then right-clicking your phone (on the right in iTunes) and doing a Reset Warnings. (Who knew that option was there??)
Then disconnect, reboot, and upon reconnect you'll be asked to send diagnostics to Apple. Decline, and let the backup commence... now much faster.
(The initial backup will still be longer than normal--but not HOURS long. In theory.)

I found that on the apple forums and it worked for me. I had to cancel a 9 hour backup the day before (only was at 50% if that). Last night I gave up after 4 hours and the level had barely climbed. When I saw that post I said what the heck and tried it. All of a sudden the phone took off. Took about 30 minutes to finish syncing everything back to the phone. Whats so complicated that my phone needs to talk to apple for 13 hours?
Go figure...
Try Deleting Photos from Your Camera Roll
iPhone Syncing can be slow with OS 3.1 and iTunes 9, if you have lots of photos still in your Camera Roll on the phone (pictures you took with the iPhone camera). To speed up iPhone syncing, download photos from your phone to your computer, then delete all photos in the Camera Roll on the iPhone. It makes a big difference. Heres how:
1. Ensure the iPhone is connected to your computer.
2. Open iPhoto.
3. Select the iPhone in the Devices list in the left column.
4. Select all your photos in the camera roll.
5. Make sure to uncheck Hide photos already imported. This is important so you will be able to delete all photos in the Camera Roll on your iPhone after the sync.
6. Click Import All.
7. Make sure all your photos imported properly (check the # of photos in the dialogue box that appears)
8. Click the Delete Photos button at the end of the import.
9. Make any new albums you want, delete any photos you might have previously imported.
10. Quit iPhoto
11. In iTunes, select your iPhone under Devices in the left column
12 Click on the Photos tab. Select any new events or albums you created or want to sync back to your iPhone
13. Click on the Sync/Apply button
14. Watch in wonder how much quicker your backup of the iPhone proceeds
I can't believe how much quicker my sync is after downloading 212 photos from my camera roll. My backup used to take forever. Now things are much quicker. Can't believe such a simple thing made such as difference.
