Hi All,

I'm new here. I have my 2017 iPad iCloud Backup on. Does this mean that it backs up all my apps?

In my iCloud storage there is no icon for Apps. Do the apps still back up somewhere?

I'm buying a new iPad, the standard version. Can I transfer all my apps from my 2017 to the new one?

Cheers,

Rob

How to transfer Apps from one iPad to another with iCloud
  1. Open your old iPad and go to "Settings" > tap "Apple ID" > "iCloud" > "iCloud Backup" > turn it on. ...
  2. When the backup completed, you can get started with your new iPad and restore the backup to it.

Thank you. I guess I have to get another iPad before I can try that. It was just that there was no icon in the iCloud that says Apps, so I was unsure if it did back up apps.

Cheers,

Rob

App data is backed up in iCloud, but the applications themselves are not backed up.

Ah, I didn't know that. I am trying iMazing, just the free version. I wonder if it actually backs up the Apps as it says it does?

My understanding is that iMazing 2 works the same way as Apple's iCloud backup. I gleaned that from a post in another forum where the user thought the same but found out differently. Imazing has since updated their app so things may have changed. You can test for yourself with their free trial version.

Their app description leads me to believe they download from the App Store if having to reload the executable on a restore -

You can also manage iOS apps, and iMazing will automatically download (from the App Store) and install apps when you import data and settings for an app that is not on your device.
