Hello,
I am trying to back up my iPhone (iOS 16) to iCloud but am unsure if it is backing up everything I want it to, which is all but photos and videos which I back up regularly to my Mac. My phone has 60GB used + 60GB of photos/videos, so without the latter I would have thought the backup was closer to 60GB, but instead it is about 7GB. I do not see many things that take up space on my phone as listed under the contents of the backup, including text messages. There is no option to enable it, among many others. In general iCloud settings I had turned off most things to use iCloud because I do not want it showing up all over all my devices, so would this be the issue that the backup is so small and have no option to add to it?
Thanks in advance.

@WildSky thank you for the link. I am still slightly confused, however, because I think that things that are not backing up to iCloud currently (e.g. iMessage) are also not included in iCloud Backup. And there is no option to enable backing it up that I can find.
Thanks

From that support article footnote 2 says: "2. When you use Messages in iCloud or turn on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud. That means that they're not included in your iCloud Backup."

Note the word "stored" is not the same as backed up. If you turn off Messages in iCloud, your Messages will be included in iCloud Backup for that device. Same with iCloud Photos.
