So iOS 5 itself seemed to install fine on my iPhone 4, but then iTunes keeps prompting for a password to restore the backup file. However I never entered a password in the first place! I've tried my Apple account password, computer password and every other likely password but none work. Getting really annoyed at this problem. Any ideas if there's a way to fix this?

Experienced most of the same errors, stalls and shutdowns as others, then restore crapped out. I had to reboot everything, when I went back to restore the ipad, itunes is now asking for a backup password, one I never entered...

I ended up using a password cracker on my backup file, and turns out the pasword was "1234". Might work for you, might not. In the end I still had to sync over all my apps, music and videos, but app data was restored.

Same Issue

I'm having the same probably as everyone else. Spent multiple hours on the phone with Apple Tech Support. Does anyone know of a program that will crack it on a mac computer or any other options?
