Backup From ICloud only?

I got a new MAC laptop and have had my 4S--everything is backed up to Icloud on my phone, Apps/notes/contacts/pictures ect...

Now I have NOT backed up my phone on the MAC yet nor do I really want too.

Here is what I want to do--restore my 4S because its been flaky a little from Itunes and set up as New phone, then restore backup from Icloud!! Has anyone done that exact thing--seems like I should get everything back on my phone dont you think?

You can reset, wipe all data, and setup as new phone and restore from iCloud without involving iTunes at all.

I did this with my iPad 2 last week because, for some odd reason, iTunes erased all my movies and music. So I did as the poster above suggested and

reset, wipe all data, and setup as new phone and restore from iCloud without involving iTunes at all

It worked like a charm. Now I don't think it downloads and installs a fresh version of iOS, but I could be wrong.

Yes. Like you just got it from the "factory." Your "restore" from iCloud puts back your personal data.

Let me borrow this thread real quick.

Today I had to sync my iPhone for the first time with my new MBP because I wanted to transfer/sync a new ringtone. Since it's a new MBP, iTunes obviously had to erase all the data on iPhone to be able to register my iPhone with this new MBP of mine. Prior to doing that, I did a backup in iTunes and when it erased everything I restored from backup.

However, it only restored text msgs, Camera Roll and certain apps (a lot of them still missing).

Since I had been using iCloud to backup my data regularly, I can now just back up from iCloud to get everything the way it was before I synced my iPhone with iTunes today, correct?

From what I understand, all I need to do is go to General --> Reset --> Erase all Content and Settings and after that it will prompt me to restore from iCloud backup?

I just want to make sure it will restore everything the way it's supposed to be, since as of right now it shows my iCloud as "OFF", though everything but Mail and Notes is on ON in iCloud section on my phone. Do I need to turn iCloud ON if I want to restore from iCloud later on, or does it not play any role here, since my iCloud backup is already there?
