I have an unlocked 1.1.1 iPhone that I have been using for months. I want to upgrade to 1.1.3 but I am assuming that the current state of my iPhone will be basically formatted. Is this how it works? If it is, how do I backup my Notes? Is there a backup all option or something (for my stocks and weather cities, and such)?

Any information on backing up (and even the upgrade and unlock) is highly appreciated! Thanks.

This doesn't answer your question exactly, but I just upgraded a 1.1.1 unlocked (t-mobile USA) to 1.1.3 unlocked.

The phone was originally pre 1.1.1

The upgrade retained my contacts, notes, texts, etc. It doesn't see my old apps or music anymore. About 4 gigs are already used that I can't access, so I am assuming my old apps are still there. Unfortunately, it seems to have broken AFPd and I haven't been able to SFTP or SSH in, but I think that's because I have a crappy wifi network.

I didn't back anything up. That's how I roll.

Good to know. So you did no backups and your info is still in there after upgrading. What method did you use to upgrade?

Notes are backed up with syncing, so if you restore your phone to get to 1.1.3, as long as you DONT select Set up as new phone, it will resync the stuff back on, but Im not sure how that goes with unlocked phones...
