Backup only messages

Hey
I want to reset my iphone but I want to keep all my messages
is there any way to do this without have some expensive program?

I have done that but then when I set it up as a new iphone the messages is not there.

Leave it charging for a while with good Wi-Fi connection, they will sync. Also. make sure that Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Messages sync is enabled.
