So before I started to download and installed iOS 5 I did a backup for my data. Then the whole installation problem started and I had to do a restore. After restoring I chose to do last backup to my iPhone so all my data could go back on. Then I noticed it said last backup was July 27, so everything I had on my phone after that date was deleted from my phone. So some of my photos and videos, contacts, and apps were deleted and all of my music is gone. I have no idea why it would do that since I backed up everything before I did this whole thing. Anybody know why this happened?

You might have used a different backup copy to restore. If you go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices ... do you see anything newer than July 27?

No there was nothing newer but I did a backup around 5:00 and it's not showing. I realized when I clicked "restore from last backup" it was listed as July 27.

I'm very sorry, but I think that back-up file is lost if you don't see one from today in the Devices section.

I make sure my backups are current anytime I install a new update as I lost my photos and videos back when I jumped from iOS 3.x to 4.x last year.

Here's hoping someone else can chime about this. There might be a jailbreak/Cydia app that can restore files from the iPhone or iTunes in case the backup was restored but got corrupted somehow.

I really don't understand why my backup is not listed. I know I backed it up, it was the first thing I did.

But thanks anyway. I lost some great photos and videos but I guess it's not a huge deal.

If anybody else could help I would really appreciate it.
