backup question before updating.

Hey,

So my dad wants to update his iPhone to ios5 like i did to myn but he's not sure if everything will be backed up correctly if he does it ?

Like, for his work, he has a special email certificate on his iPhone so that he can retrieve the mail, will that certificate be backed up / restored aswell when updating ?
