I realise Acronis doesn't work with Boot Camp so I tried Winclone but that doesn't work either to the external drive because of a "Permissions" error.

How do I make an image of the XP Partition and save that to an external drive??

Many thanks :)

Reformat NTFS external drive with Winclone into separate partitions, one of which being FAT32. In case other n00bs wonder. :)

Using winclone, I made an image of my XP boot camp partition to my mac desktop then I just copied the file to my external drive for storage and retrieval later....wouldn't this work as well? When I need to restore I could just copy the image file from my external drive to the desktop if winclone could not accept it from the external drove.

Acronis Backup

The short answer is you can't. You can back up the data & applications in the normal way - that is all
