This is a post looking for some advice from you Mac experts out there.
For the last few years (since I made the switch to Apple myself) I have championed their cause to my Dad, insisting he needed to get rid of his Viao and buy an Apple.
Finally last year he gave in and bought a MacBook, which has since been away for repairs 4 times (sometimes problems are recurring, sometimes it's new faults). Now, having just passed it's warranty date by a couple of weeks, it is not working yet again!
However, Apple have now washed their hands of this problem machine, refusing to do anything about the problems, despite the fact they have had this machine as much as my Dad over the last year.
Sadly, my Dad now wants to throw the machine away (he won't sell it because it's not right to pass on such a troublesome machine) and buy a Sony.
Don't get me wrong, I have loved Apple since the day I bought my first Powerbook, I am a Mac evangelist, and am loving my current MacBook Pro, however I am mad that Apple are refusing to deal with this issue.
The last time it had to go away for repairs (5 seperate faults!) I rang Apple and begged them to acknowledge this laptop is a lemon and replace it, they refused.
What I am hoping you guys can help me with, is if there's anything I can do to try and help my Dad out here?
Is there something I can say to Apple to get them to see reason? What should my approach be?
Unfortunately I think I've lost my chance to keep him with Apple, he's going to switch back, unless someone can suggest something I haven't thought of???
Oh, I'm based in the UK, if that makes a difference.
Thank you everyone!
