ok so first things first, I have the 10.8 dev preview (attained legally) and im not a dev. Yeah yeah yeah I got it so I could stay up to date with some of the new features. I am not dumb when it comes to Macs but I don't know alot.

So, trying to play some games etc etc, I was told that updating drivers might help run the games better (like it should) and I know that there are not really any solid drivers for Mountain Lion (that I can tell). I have the Nvidia 330M, in a Macbook Pro 2010.

So I downloaded this driver, was asked to reboot and now when I login, it loads and then crashes and reboots saying there was a problem to it had to reboot blah blah.

The question is this: Is there a way in recovery mode (or other) to delete the files? strike 2 - I have not backed up my system in a while so I can't safely restore. I understand i'll prolly lose everything but thats my own fault.

I have tried to reload Lion over Mountain lion and it won't let me. Am I doing something wrong or does it just not work like that? Or can I somehow get into the hard drive and grab my files?

Thanks if you can help in any way :)

haha yeah I guess I kinda forgot about that, I also am going to try to get a log to see what is crashing my comp (the log to give the file name) and ill try to delete it through the terminal. That should work (in theory) right? :D

well it seems that it may be Kext files that were installed that is hurting my computer. I think I accidentally installed some kind of dell whatever kext files and that sent my comp into the no load screen. I went home for lunch and tried Safe Mode, Single user Mode, and even verbose boot and all ended up with the system rebooting after running for a minute or two. Is there a way to see some kind of log file in the single user mode? just before my system crashes it doesnt give any errors or warnings, it just looks like its loading stuff and then BAM restart.

Second, is it possible to partition my drive and then from the good partition access my files on my bad one? or will they be corrupt? and same for Windows 7 to Mac partition (I have a Windows 7 already on my computer)

edit: I found somewhere that said to put my mac into Target Disk Mode and get the files off that way, can anyone confirm that it works?
