Bad Glare on the Macbook Air?

I am really interested in purchasing the Macbook Air. My main question is if the glare is really bad. Has anyone had any experience with using the MBA outside or on a train, car, airplane etc.? Also, my computer desk at home is in front of a large window and I wonder if this will impose any reflection or glare. Thanks for your help!

It can be irritating. If they had an option for matte, I would have picked that one. It's brighter tho.

The possible glare bothered me too, while making my purchase. I had visited the Apple store, but the MBA's hadnt arrived at that point. Finally, I just ordered mine from the Apple store online, and took my chances with any glare issues. The first thing I did after cranking it up was take it to all of the possible glare places where I typically use my laptop. To my surprise, there was little or no glare. I dont know how they do it, but Apple has once again delivered on a new product. btw... my only comparison is to my daughter's Compaq. The glare on that screen is so bad that if it were mine, it would just stay locked up in the travel case all the time.

I have a matte MBP and the Air. When I bought the Air I thought I might see some glare when using it outside. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was very little glare on the screen. This screen is excellent!

Thanks for input everyone! That really helps me in making my decision although I am tempted to wait for the Rev. B to come out fix a few minor glitches people are having. Hopefully by then, the price of the SSD might come down as well.

The brightness, I think, offsets the glossiness of the screen. No problems here.

I was very surprised at the non-issue of the glossy screen. As a photographer, I've been opposed to the idea of glossy screens on the iMac and the MB and MBP. When I was buying the MBA I told myself that the glossy screen wouldn't matter anyway since this machine wouldn't be used for serious digital image editing. So I get the thing home and start using it....and am really surprised. The glossy screen on the MBA is truly a non-issue. The clarity and brightness of the screen when in use totally negates reflections and such which would be a concern with a glossy screen. I'm delighted!

I don't really notice glare on any of my glossy screens, iMac or MBA. I don't use mine outside though.
