Hey guys, today I purchased a "opened but never used" Barracuda 2 tb SSHD on Craigslist. I was excited to move over my stuff to it, so when I got home I hooked it up right away to my Mac pro to find out it is not showing up at all on disk utility. I used internal SATA btw. I do not have a USB to SATA cable to test externally. Anyways, I tried to find it in boot camp as well on Windows and Windows disk manager is not recognizing it either. Do you think this is a faulty drive? Guy said he got out of computers and got the drive as a gift soon after. He said he didn't know if it worked and if it didn't I could return it to him for a refund. I'm hoping it's not the drive though because I drove 50 minutes each way to pick it up. Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance!

You could try what OWC call a defibrillator. Reset the PRAM 10-15+ times. Worth a go - no idea why :)

The fact he told you that you "could return it to him for a refund" if it didn't work sounds to me like a strong indication he may have been aware it didn't work for him. eMail him with the bad news, and try to get your refund. Good Luck!

Btw, just curious, what did he want for it?

I only paid $50 for it, but that's $50 I could using on upgrading my Mac pro. Plus I had to drive 40 minutes each way.
