Hey all,

My main workstation just recently died, so I switched over to my late 2012 Mac mini (i7) - which I haven't booted in quite some time. Unfortunately I suspect this one has a busted logic board or bad RAM:

- Checked ram, ran test, tried sticks in each slot, etc.
- When I first turned it on it ran for a good 4-5 hours, then it crashed. Now it sometimes boots, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes it does a repeated power cycle (will reboot immediately after chime).
- It gave me 3-chime for a while (which indicates a ram problem), but after fiddling with ram it doesn't.
- When it crashes - the displays will get a lovely assortment of striped colors, for about 5 seconds, followed by a reboot.

I am trying to find the original Apple RAM to give that a go, since I am using two 8GB sticks from a 3rd party. It ran fine for over a year before, but who knows - maybe something went wrong after sitting there for so long.

Anyone experience that before?

Eh, well, found the original ram and its still doing it. Going to assume the motherboard is just shot since it is crashing so early in the boot process.

Nah, didn't get it. Even if I did it would have been about 20 days expired though - bought it in early December 2012.

Have a feeling I know what happened - I moved across states about 4 months ago, and normally I put all of my computers in my car rather than the moving truck, to keep them safer (less likely they'll get damaged). Have moved 2 times prior without issue. In this one instance I packed it up (in its original box, etc) and it ended up in the truck.

It probably already had a weak solder point or something, and being in a bouncy-as-heck moving truck probably finished it. I just know it worked perfectly the day I packed it up. Haven't touched it since then

Just sort of sucks... it's bad timing. I only found this out because my main workstation's motherboard died and I was going to use the mini as a backup computer until I get a replacement mobo in. Sort of a double whammy
