I have a project for a class where I have to take the front page of a relatively bad, simple, and amatureish looking website and redo it completely. I'm looking for simple sits, with simple layouts that have potential and could be much better. Does anyone have any sites they could suggest?

There's a fine line between salvageable and waste of time. :p

Anything that I've designed  (I'm not actually THAT bad but I always feel rubbish when I see some of the stuff coming online at the moment).

Oh Christ, I'm going to be sick once I stop having this seizure.

For once, I bet Stevie Wonder would be glad he's blind.

Add > Wow. Almost 10 minutes later and I still can't see straight! Time to find some asprin, and a drink to calm my nerves.

i have stevie wonders autograph, but you could never tell it was he who signed his name...

I really hate this web designer, not because of how bad he is, but because of how much he rips of his clients.

$24.95 a month (plus $29.50 setup fee) gets you:
  • 5 - 10mb of web hosting space (why isn't this an exact number?)
  • Unlimited bandwidth within reason (how can you be unreasonable with a 10mb web site?)
  • 2 POP3 email accounts ($2/mo extra for each additional account)
  • A single FTP account ($2/mo extra for each additional account)
Just insane! And what is with the creepy spider action?

And just check out this mission statement (or whatever it is) at the bottom of the page:

Nope the ABSOLUTE worst Web Design company is Purpose Group I worked for them for 5 weeks and I was never paid. These guys just blaitently rip off their staff and clients. There was this one client (who will remain nameless because of legal action) who gave them a despoit for a web site 4 years ago and still hasn't got any web site. In my opinion companies like this deserve to go bust.

And now for some laughs....

http://members.tripod.com/~fezpage/index.html (the worst site of 2000 and they still haven't updated it)

and http://www.istanbul.tc/mahir/mahir/ which was officially named the worst web site of all time and unofficially the inspiration for Borat.

I'm pretty sure that's thinly-disguised keyword spamming to try and get his ranks up in the search engines. Of course, I'm pretty sure Google and their likes have algorithms that detect this and actually will push your ranks DOWN if you try to do that.

5 megs for $25 a month. Wow. Welcome to 1996.
