Hey everyone. I wanted to check around and see if I have a case of really bad luck or if others are having this issue.
Like many I received my iPad on Saturday. As much as I love the device, I ran into an issue immediately upon powering it on. I had 3 dead pixels on the unit.
I called Apple on Sunday and they were more than helpful. They set me up with an appt at the Genius Bar today and even offered to send me a free accessory for my troubles.
Tonight when I got to my appt, they switched me out with a new model. I really contemplated unboxing it in the store or in the car to test as the store is pretty far away from me, but didn't as the genius assured me that this was the only iPad he heard of with this issue.
So I guess, shame on me for not doing so. I just got home and turned the unit on, backed it up, and sure enough I have dead pixels again. I cleaned the screen like last time and viewed the display using solid colored backgrounds in photos. 4 dead pixels around the whole device. Called Apple back, maintained calm and explained the issue... and they didn't even have a record of my last call from Sunday. Luckily I at least had the email from the last tech I talked to and sent them that info.
So, long read later, has anyone else had any issues with dead pixels?? What avenue should I explore from here? I am currently on hold waiting to speak to a senior apple advisor. I was trying to avoid the delay of sending it back and I really don't want to drive back down to an Apple store again.
