With the incoming 14 generation and rumors of the next SE taking the form of the Xr and 11, it appears that Touch ID is not in the plans going forward be it under the screen, on the power button, or via the traditional placement. Logistically this would’ve been the year such an implementation would be probable because of the pandemic and mask wearing as we know iPhones are planned at least a few years in advance. The dynamic island also seems to be here at least for the foreseeable future. Bye bye Touch ID?

SE4 will likely be Touch ID given the display is only 5.7-inch. Apple isn’t going to make a new chassis to fit the smaller display. We’ve seen this strategy with the $329 iPad. They’ll use the XR chassis with the 5.7-inch display which means no Face ID.

But isn’t it then essentially 8 Plus chassis?

According to this, SE 4 will be the Xr and 11 body:

Where did you see that it will be 5.7 in?
