Quick question,

Got a Powerbook G4, 1.67.

I thought I had a bad superdrive. It would fire up, accept CD, eject CD's however never detect the CD is OSX.

Purchased a new superdrive from Ifixit, installed, and have exactly the same symptoms.

Anything else this could be?

Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem with recently purchased DVDs.
Inserting the dvd would result in an ejection of the disk.
After a few days I managed to play about half of one movie, before my macbook got the spinning beachball of death. Now I am back to square 1.

Inserting a blank dvd yields no problems.
I also tried a dvd I bought years ago, which played just fine on the first try.
I am not sure if it's a software, hardware or disk problem. With the way the MPAA and concerts are acting these days, my guess would be a disk problem.
