Hi,
I am new to the forum and just needed some advice.
I have an older e-mac that I use and the display suddenly became distorted and stretched. I can't see all of the words in finder or even the apple icon to shut down the computer...it has stretched far off of the display.
I tried the display settings in system preferences and tried to adjust settings in geometry but nothing there seemed to help fix it. I can adjust the height but not the width.
When I connected a Dell monitor to the e-macs display output it looked fine in the monitor.
Is there any suggestions on how to correct the display on the e-mac.
It basically was fine until a few days agao and when it turned on it was like this.
Thanks for any help or advice

i know you tried some geometry settings , have you reset to factory settings ?
tried other resolutions (lower ones ) ?
have you installed any software to enhance resolutions like SwitchResX Control or Displayconfigx prior to the problem ?

Thanks for the response,
Yes I did try to reset to factory settings but that wasn't able to change anything. I also had not previously installed any software to enhance resolutions. For now I will just connect a monitor to it. I am really not sure how to tackle this. It did try to use a apple hardware test cd that came with the computer but it did not recognize the cd or it said it did not support apple hardware test,
Thanks for your response.
