Bad Superdrive? Toast 8 Error!

Hey everyone, I bought a Macbook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo back in November and its just wonderful. I was running Toast 7 and always burnt CD's fine (music were talking). So I burned a CD for one of my employees at work and the next day he said at the end of the CD it started skipping really bad. I told him I thought it might be his CD player because the BOSE System in my Denali played everything fine prior to that. So then I burnt another CD for myself and it skips at the end tracks also... the 1st few tracks are perfect.

So I updated to Toast 8... now, I get this error when I burn a CD... I was wondering if my drive might be bad and that Toast 7 did not catch it enough to throw an error and still completed the CD but it was just messed up when complete. While as toast 8 might be catching the error and not completeing the disk, where as toast 7 left the error go and just burnt a corrupt cd?

Any ideas? The computer is still under warranty. Thanks

Seems like it could be a faulty superdrive. If you're still under warranty you're in the gravy. Do you have an apple store nearby that you could bring your MBP in to have them look at it? They would most likely diagnose this as a hardware failure and get your machine fixed.

Yeah there is one within 40 minutes, so its not really a problem. I dont know how ill be without my MBP for a little while. Is it something they can fix in house? I never had one problem with my Macs until this one... Oh well... still better than using winblows! Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

I just had my superdrive replaced on my MBP. I dropped it off on a Sunday at the Apple store and had it back the following Thursday. Not bad!

what type of media are you using? make sure you're not using some cheap no-name discs...

Well I did use some cheap ass no-name disk, but then I used good disks just to make sure...
