i don't need a macbook i could hold on on my windows laptop for a while, the only reason as to why i even want a macbook is due to the battery life compare to my PC laptop are just way way different.

i wanted the macbook air but i don't want an 15 inc laptop and i feel like the 13 inc is to small

the only laptop that look good to me is the macbook pro 14 inc. i feel like that is the prefect size and thats the size i have for my PC laptop, but i am feeling like its a bad time to get a macbook right now due to the new M3 chips?

A 14" MBP with an M3 will probably come out next June. If you can wait that long, go for it. But it's unlikely that the M3 will be so amazing that you will instantly regret having bought an M2 8 months before they came out.

I'm with #2. Don't buy until "want" is "need."

If the PC battery has a lot of use, maybe spend probably under $100 to put in a new battery (yourself) and get battery power back to "like new." I did this a few months ago for an old MBpro and it was such a meaningful fix that I put off buying a replacement MB for another year or two. Sometimes a cheap repair is better than buying all new.

Kinda in the same boat. Windows laptiop is starting to show its age. I got the battery replaced so I am good to go with it for awhile longer.

So I'd at least definitely wait until Black Friday. Sometimes you can pick up a decent deal then.

The next gen Mac laptops look as if they are some time away, so if you want an Apple laptop get it whenever you want and do not be lulled into waiting for the ‘next best thing’. There are plenty of offers related to the 14” MacBook Pro, so wait for a good price and then go for it.

MBP 14" would be a good choice.

Old saying applies:
If you NEED now, BUY now.

If you don't mind waiting, we might be seeing the m3pro version of the MacBook Pro 14" in the 1st quarter of 2024. No promises...

I would say it's fine to get one now, because it sounds like people are saying June is the likely release. Even if it's March-June, the time the much cheaper refurbished models drop will be late summer or around there. That gives you around a year to enjoy the MBP, and if the M3 is really that amazing you can upgrade then for a few hundred bucks anyways...if it's not that great you can wait a lil longer or for the next chip entirely:)

Don't play the waiting game, there will always be something better around the corner etc. I dont see them bringing out a new MacBook Pro this year, if you want one now, grab one now and enjoy it.

In my opinion you get the best value out of a computer if one or both of these conditions are met:

1. You buy it right after it's released. This way, you get the maximum lifetime from it before it stops getting updates
2. You get such a huge discount for a current or previous generation which makes up for the fact that it's a little older

Paying full price for a laptop released in January just doesn't make sense unless you have no choice and need it for work. It sounds like you can wait, so I would.

I would STRONGLY advise you wait until Monday 10/30/23 at about 6pm PDT to decide what to buy.

With the announcement today (Tuesday October 24) that Apple are having a hardware event at the end of this month, I am guessing my first comment may no longer may be true, so you should wait until the 30 October before making a decision. We still do not know what they will announce, so it does not guarantee a new MBPro 14 or 16 and could be just an iMac update, but we do not know and so it is best to be cautious.

You do not need and do not want (!) a MacBook at this moment… don’t buy one.

You need or want a MacBook at this moment… buy one.

Finally, the always so popular wait for the next best thing… what’s that all about? You do not know what machines will be available in the first moment with a new SoC, you do not know how good or bad they are, at the moment they are released there is already again the next best thing on the horizon…! But that’s just my very personal opinion.

The current MBP14 has been a solid product. No telling if the next one will also be solid. You may want awhile to wait and see anyway.

That being said, there are some discounting on MBPs now days, especially mid-high level models. You may find deeper discounts after the 30th.

3rd parties may have a lot of stock to get rid of though, and it happens to be Black Friday seasons which is great timing for them publicity wise. B&H in particular I imagine they will heavily price cut some BTO with like 32-64GB RAM.
