Hey guys!

I just bought BG2 w/ expansion, and am having a few issues.

First, the game will only start if I open the config utility first and set it to window mode, otherwise it "unexpectedly quits" after a couple of seconds.

Second, I have absolutely no sound.

Anyone have any advice for me? I contacted Macplay, and they sent me an auto email that said they don't support any of their titles any longer.

Back in the days I played BG2:SoA/ToB on my mac I had severe issues on whatever platform I played on - be it portable or not, these could of course mean something fishy with the systems I had back then, but they ran perfectly in other way so I believe it to be just poort porting work.

My best advice would be to patch it up (if you haven't), check the configuration application as well - use as many software based configurations as possible as BG2 is old and may not be 100% compatible with current graphic cards, uncheck any fancy sound related things as well due to similar issues.
So best advice would be to play around with the configuration tool as much as possible.

personaly I gave up on BG2 on mac a long time ago, I still play it from time to time with bootcamp - the windows edition is a whole lot more stable (imo) and can often be brought very cheap (example 6$ from a random pick on ebay clickety.

Thanks for the reply.

I have a copy of Baldurs Gate for PC, but my windows machine took a dump. I replaced it with a mac since I'm not too much of a gamer--I really only like the older rpgs. I don't own a copy of windows, and don't have another $100 to drop on it, so can't go that route for a while.

I downloaded the patch but it came in as a .sit file that I have no idea how to install.

Anyone else have any ideas? If it helps I have a 2.2 ghz macbook with 1gb ram.

BG 2 was immensely buggy on Tiger, I'd think it's even worse on Leopard. It was made for OS9 originally... I would just suggest playing the game on Windows...
