So I was at my Apple store today and the base 11" and ultimate 13" were the first to sell out. This tells me that these 2 are the sweet spot configurations when it come to performance, purpose, and price. Thoughts?

maybe, but it's just one store. besides, what matters most is which configuration suits your needs ;)

Very true, and I agree with you, but the couple of Seattle area stores I've checked had the same story. Maxed out 11's were in-stock but maxed 13.3's arrived this morning and had already gone out the door.

I'm sure it's different in different areas, but interesting none-the-less. Isn't that what forums are about? Irrelevant data? :D

Yeah I thought the same, it makes sense.
People buying the base 11" as their second or third computer, basically using it as a netbook. Then people buying the maxed out 13" as their main computer.

IMO, no. I think it's base 11 or base 13. What is the ultimate 13, $1,700 or $1,800? I'd probably get a MBP if I wanted more than the base 13 provides.

+1. My 11in is for my wife. My 11in MBA that is.

2GB is fine for her. She does email, Facebook, some surfing and MS office. I have an iMac and MacBook Pro.

My thoughts exactly. I also believe that the 13" MBA is getting part of the 13" MBP market now too. I believe the 1440 x 900 display is making it highly coveted. People coming from MBPs will not want to give up 4 GB RAM, and will consider 256 GB NAND Flash and 2.13 GHz CPU necessary. But in the end it's mostly definitely people wanting to use it as their primary Mac or at least primary notebook.
