I just noticed the new set of pictures on apple.com, and there seems to be a new base station. It has the side cut out of the top for the button on the bottom of the iPhone. Would a sensor for a remote be needed, and would it come with the iPhone on purchase?

You're asking question noone but apple has the answer to at the moment. Since the dock is being shown WITH the phone though I'm leaning towards the dock coming with the phone. At $500-600 they'd better be including more than just a phone and power cord anyway.

oh, it will certainly come w/ headphones

I think our "What's In the Box" may be:

iPhone
New Apple Ear Buds w/ mic (as seen at keynote)
iPod cable

I certainly hope the dock we've seen so much is included...i Really do. Some how I doubt it.

dont' forget the cheap slip case!

i think "in the box" will be:

iphone
apple headphones with mic
usb dock
usb power adapter
maybe a slip case (like what comes with the ipod)

if you remember, when the ipod first came out, it came with everything... the usb cord, the firewire cord, the wall charger, a belt clip, a remote... and as it became more popular they took that stuff out and lowered the price.. the same thing will happen with the iphone.. theyll have a lot in the box for the 1st gen.. in a year only the iphone and a cord will be in the box... they have to provide the power adapter, because people need to charge their phone without a computer all the time, unlike the ipod

I do remember when the iPod first came out as my original pre-ordered iPod is still working, sitting here on my desk, right next to my 5th gen.

And it came with iTunes on CD, a Firewire cable, and a wall charger. No belt clip that I remember, certainly no remote at the time.

I would guess either base and usb cord
or usb cord and wall plug but not both.

Remember if you have a wall plug already you can use that.
I wonder if the iPhone will charge off an old firewire wall plug and firewire to flat iPod cable. You can't transfer data off a new iPod (nano or video) with one of those cables, but you can still charge it that way.

the 3g ipods (or whichever ones had entirely touch controls with no actual buttons) i think came in 10/15/20 (not sure about the other two but the 15 was the middle of the road $400 one. I remember it because I bought it. It came with wall charger, firewire cable, belt clip/case, remote, dock, headphones. The low end one didn't come with all the extras.

i say it comes with

Phone
Headphones
Sleeve Case
Dock/USB w/ wall charger

I know they said it will "charge and sync" but if it syncs like an ipod, then its unsuable when it's syncing...what if you get a call/message? theres got to be a way for it to be received. I say it comes with wall and usb charger
