My kids have Mini's, so they're covered. I have an OLD iPad 3 that I use in our home gym to watch videos while doing cardio. Would like to replace it with something new for the same use, web surfing so i dont use my work laptop anymore, and airplane travel. Is bluetooth 4.2 in the base Ipad versus 5.0 in the Air and the Pro an issue? I do have gen2 Airpods. On the airplane I like to use corded earpods so I dont lose the cordless buds by accident if they fall out or I fall asleep.

I've looked over the base iPad, the Air, and the Pro 11". Money not really the issue here. Our home Mac is a 2007 iMac which I've been dragging my feet on replacing since I'm not sure if I want to replace with another iMac or a Macbook Pro or Air, if that's a consideration in this decision.

iPad 7 and iPad Air 3 still have normal headphones jacks. The 2018 Pros don't.

Bluetooth 4.2 vs 5.0 means shorter battery life on your AirPods, I think. Less range, too.

Not sure what Black Friday pricing will be like. However, 32GB WiFi iPad 7 is expected to be $250 and the 64GB WiFi iPad Air 3 has already gone on sale recently for $400. I reckon for the $150 difference, you'd probably appreciate upgrading to the Air 3 over the iPad 7.

Get the iPad Air 3.
