Yes, they'll have the base models at the local stores. I just got mine three days ago. It is an awesome piece IMO.
They normally never carry the "build to order" models, just the base models.
(Not to rub it in, but I got mine at a nice discount too)

All three standard models are available in local retail stores. The built to order ones are only available from Apple online and other select online stores.

Thanks for the tip on JR, though I can't get their site to load for some reason. I qualify for the educational discount so I can get the Mini for $979 from Apple. The 5% off sounds nice but the last thing I want is another CC. I'll keep JR in mind though.
