Ok I am fairly new to the Iphone and have a 3GS I was able to jailbreak with Pwnage tool with out any problems. I am on AT&T, if I dont need to unlock and just need jail break are the advantages to the upgraded baseband that I am missing.

Thanks

usually the newer baseband accomplishes 2 things:
1. Service improvements
2. Relocking the device so you can't unlock it.

If you want to try newer baseband to try and get better service, go for it. I tend to stay on unlockable baseband since it will have higher resale value in the future since I seem to get a newer iPhone with each iteration. :)
