I have an iphone 3gs 32gb. Baseband 5.16.05 serial #86951QU13NR
Is it possible to upgrade to 6.15.00 and unlock via ultrasnow? i have unlocked many iphones and want to make sure before i ruin a board. thanks in advance

is that possible? i have downgraded the 6.15.00 to 5.13.04 but thought only that an iphone with 6.15.00 was downgradable...if thats the case, then would that mean that ANY iphone 3gs is downgradable and unlockable?

i just tried to downgrade and unfortunately redsnow did not flash the baseband. i clicked on appropriate checkbox and no go. might try again tomorrow.

I don't think you can downgrade the baseband. At least you can't on the iPhone 4.

Sorry I don't think it's possible although I wish it was. The option on redsnow is only for Iphone 3GS/3G that were previously upgraded to 6.15.00. If downgrading any 3GS were possible, then that would mean that all 3GS are unlockable.

I have been to devteam blog. I can't find anything that says 5.16.05 can be downgraded straight to 5.13.04. If I tried to upgrade to 6.15.00 first then my baseband will fry since my iPhone was produced after week xx138...

According to the serial number you posted, your phone was made the 51st week of 2009.

Otherwise, none of us would have recommended you try the baseband downgrade.

I apologize. I guess I need to get better at decoding serial numbers :/ I thought since it was xx951 that it was over the 135 limit set by redsnow. I will remember future reference. Thanks for the help guys.
