Hello,

I am running macOS Monterey 12.6.4 (21G526). I accidentally found a copy of the BaseSystem.dmg file on my desktop by showing hidden files (command-****-period). Is this normal?

By looking deeply into this I found the following:
Code:
myuser$ find / -name BaseSystem.dmg -type f 2>/dev/null
/System/Volumes/Data/Users/myuser/Desktop/BaseSystem.dmg
/Users/myuser/Desktop/BaseSystem.dmg

Is it normal to have a copy of this file on my desktop?
May I safe delete it?

TIA

I am wondering if this is somthing related to the time I installed OpenCore on my MacPro5,1 since I later cloned the OS drive to this new MacBookPro16".
