It's a vector, which is a major part of the SWF standard. If there were a way to zoom that image it would zoom forever.

In Flash, take a timeline animation, set its Flash Publish setting to Player 1 and viola!

Worked right out the box for me.
Granted there's a ton of stuff not doable in Flash Player 1, like fonts, sounds, interaction, etc. It still works!

Any Flash devs out there find any good / fun uses for this yet?

Nice try by the author and for Gruber for mentioning it, but I'm interested in universal non-proprietary standards, not in hacks & pet projects. This crap (Flash) needs to come to an end.

I could care less about flash.

Flash is like my personal email account I have had for 14 years. For every one useful or expected email I get, over 400 useless ones are generated that contains absolute junk or annoying ads  . Most websites I use have some workaround for flash except a few news sites. BOO HOO. I miss reading a review I can read when I get home. If it means trouble pop-up free surfing when its crunch time during the day then I'm all for it.

FLASH SUCKS! After buying my new umbp and seeing the thing turn into an egg cooker with the fans going full blast while watching flash videos on abc.com I can now see why people HATE FLASH so much... FLASH NEEDS TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously. You'd think I was playing Crysis or something on my MacBook the way the fans spin when I'm using flash. Luckily ClickToFlash blocks flash and lets me load H.264 versions of most videos on YouTube.

People of Earth,

Flash does not exist to offend you. It is a mere tool that when used by ill-intentioned people, has the ability to offend.

HTML can do many things Flash can do now, but it cannot do complex animation. If you see the car demo from above you'll see what I mean.

I'm not saying this is the solution to everything or anything, but that it allows more options for web experiences.

ENDOFTRANSMISSION

You don't get it. Flash offends even when well-intentioned. It is a crutch for lazy web designers, allowing them to create showy pages which obscure content and are horrendous for people with accessibility needs. It's not what people do with Flash that offends, it's that they use Flash at all.

Would you rather pay for access to sites that are ad-supported?

Non-Flash ads are okay. The iPhone isn't capable of showing multiple Flash animations on a web page, though. And we'd end up with malware Flash ads infecting our phones because of security holes in Flash.

You have no idea what you're talking about and no practical experience. You're just spouting what others have said around here in all these debates. This thread was started by someone wanting to share some information and it got hijacked by the anti-flash teabagger crowd.

Let's see the latest thing you've developed in Flash, we'll see how lazy you were.

Now, if they can just get it so that online check-in works on the British Airways site, I will be soooooooo happy.

And for all the anti-flash philosophers here, why can't Apple allow Safari to tell you when there's a Flash object and ask you if you want to allow it to execute? Like Firefox with NoScript. You can all say Cancel, some of us would say Allow. How would that hurt you?
