I'm a longtime Windows user and I have an external drive connected to a mac mini (2009/El Capitan I think) with file sharing turned on for this drive. I connect to the mac mini from a Macbook Air running Sierra via smb: and browse to a specific directory in Finder that has files starting with 'img_'. In the Finder search section at the upper right I type img_ and nothing returns. I understand that it may not be indexed so it wouldn't be able to search the contents of the files but I just want to search file names. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to search simple file names for external drives via smb?
