I'm on the fence with upgrading from my 13 pro max because I love the battery. How do you think the 14 pro max will compare with the 13? Will the AOD have a noticeable drain on its battery?

Nobody knows how the AOD will impact the battery on an iPhone until it’s out in the real world. I’m of the thought process that if Apple waited this long to do AOD, they wanted to make sure it would have the absolutely most minimal battery impact on their flagship device.

If it’s something that gives you pause, wait a month or two until people have real world results on a daily basis.

I also have a 13 Pro Max and love the battery life. They managed to claim 1 additional hour while watching video and the rest of the results are the same. I would very well imagine it’s negligible in overall battery drain - as they won’t want any bad press if it would be hours difference. Additionally, I’m assuming there will be some sort of way to disable AOD like there is with the Watch.

Regardless, I’ll be upgrading since my wife needs a new phone anyway… so she can have my 13 Pro Max. ☺️

Up to you, but I personally won't do it. Pay another $600 on top of the trade in for just the pill and aod. Wait for iOS 16 and upgrade next year imo.
