iPhone SE (2016) Battery 95% shutdown

hello , my girlfriend has a 8 months old iphone se already on 95% percent and the iphone suffered a shutdown and it is now on battery management to prevent it to happen again ,I sawd I can disable but I am affraid it will do worse to the battery and the phone , should I take the phone to apple ? They can do something with it ? It is still in waranty ? I don t have any of the insurance from them but I am thinking is not right to do that on a 8 months old phone

Battery health degrades over time and battery impedance increases when the temperature is low. Shutdowns during this time of the year are not uncommon.

Apple will replace the battery for $49. You can also ask politely but the battery is a consumable item that is expected to degrade with use.

Sounds like the cold likely had something to do with it, as it can often play a role when it comes to batteries. That said, if you are worried about it, contact Apple and see what they might have to say about it, especially given that the device is less than a year old.

That temperature is not optimal for the battery and the shutdown is very likely just a one time thing. Extreme temperatures tend to hinder the battery's ability to function properly and shouldn't be a thing to particularly worry about. And I suspect it'd be the same explanation you'd be given by a Genius store employee after running the diagnostics. But if the reason is something else they'd usually be more than willing to swap it out for you if it's still under warranty.

iPhone operating temperature is between 32f-95f. 1 degree is too cold and will cause the battery to drain rapidly and the phone will shut down. This is not uncommon. Exposing your phone to low temperature on a regular basis can permenantly damage the battery.

Yes- use low power mode and check for apps using too much activity

I have most of mine set to not run in the background or if I am not using the app.

Just like a CPU chip that runs slower when too hot - a iphone will slow some things to save power ( at least if doesn't slow the pitch of the sound)

The battery is an Electro-Chemical Devices so temperature is a factor.

My girlfriend is complaning that the phone is verry slow and malfunctioning ...

Nothing will really happen aside from the power management no longer being in use. Unless there's really an issue with the battery in which case the phone might be shutting down under heavier load at times.

1 degree C is within the normal operating conditions, but a chemically aged battery won't be able to tolerate the low temps.

If you expect to use your phone outdoors in low battery conditions, you'll want a new battery installed.

The OP said 1 degree, not clarifying if it was F or C. If it’s 1F, then it’s 31 degrees below operating temperature.

A SE has a small battery. At 1°C it doesn't have much juice even when fully charged. I'm not surprised that the phone crashed at that temperature with s 30% charge level. Doubt there's anything wrong with the phone.

Tip- Keep it charged and warm if possible. Bring a spare battery pack to keep the charge level up in freezing temperatures.

If it was that cold, the shutdown was probably due to cold and you shouldn't worry about it.

Turn off performance management and keep using the phone normally. The phone is too new for the battery to be worn out already.

Extreme cold can do this to batteries; the damage is not permanent. Apple really should take a temperature reading when an unexpected shutdown occurs and not enable performance management if it's too cold.
