So my launch MBA is reporting 61% battery health and 48 cycles. It gets around 2 hours on battery, as opposed to over 4 hours originally.

So is this worth getting on to apple about, or is this degree of battery degradation normal ?

Thanks

After 24 cycles, I'm at 95% original capacity. I sure hope I won't be down to 60% that soon.

I'd take it to an Apple store.

60 cycles and still 96%. Try calibrating the battery (run it all the way down and then charge it all the way up without interrupting). If the battery is still at 60%, you should contact Apple.

The good side of the grass.
MRU, try calibrating it first - maybe you'll get lucky.

At that many cycles if it doesn't hit 95% you've got a defective battery. I'm sure they'll fix that one. Mine's at 112 cycles with 97% battery health and lasts a good 3+ hours on battery.

Good luck!

is it, or is it not that apple's policy on batteries is that it can have at least 80% health after 300 cycles? if not, they can warranty it?

This is anything but normal.

Like said before, try calibrating it = run it down completely to 0% and then charge it all the way to 100% (this works best while it is on, in OS X imo).

If it is still 61% you can go back to Apple and claim a new one.

I want to emphasize that when you do run it down... it will fall into sleep mode... to get the best result, you have to let it sit there until the white sleep light in the front stops "pulsing" (flashing) that way your battery will be completely dead.... just time it out so that your computer dies before you go to bed, and then leave it unplugged in sleep mode over night... when you wake up then plug it in and let it charge until the green light comes on and then let it sit there plugged in with the green light on for about 2 hours more....

if you do it like that, then you'll definitely know if its right or not.

Thanks guys. I have actually calibrated the battery, in fact it has been through 'conditioning' at good number of times and it has done little to improve the situation.

Unfortunetly taking it to an apple store is simply not possible here in Ireland as we do not have any apple stores. Which means it is going to have to be sent across the country to Dublin, and I'll probably see it again in a fortnights time :(

Frik it
